Mokichi Takamaru (高丸萌人, Takamaru Mokichi, born October 27, 2002) is a Japanese actor. $\tiny {[1]}$ He is best known for his role as Chomei Seo in Boyfriend Tales (2022–2024) and as Vicente Hashimoto dos Reis in Detective Reports (2023–present). He has received numerous awards, including a combined five Primetime Emmy Awards for both mentioned roles, and four Golden Globe Awards for the latter.
Takamaru first gained prominence for his debut leading role as Takeru Furuse on the Imagine Pictures debut horror series Exaltation (2020).
Takamaru was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, $\tiny {[2]}$ he was mainly raised by his grandparents. $\tiny {[3]}$ Wanting to hone his craft to pursue a career in accounting, Takamaru applied to his school’s student council while he was in high school. He was instead recruited, and was recognized by the public due to his organized charity events with the school’s unneeded funds. Hope's Peak Academy scouted him as an Ultimate following the fact. He attended the academy for a year as the Ultimate Student Council Treasurer before having his ultimate changed after finding wider success in his television breakthrough. $\tiny {[4] [5] [6]}$
Personal Life
Takamaru is close friends with business conglomerate heiresses Itami Sato and Kumi Sato, and often visits them on his days off. $\tiny {[7]}$
A few months after beginning to attend Hope’s Peak Academy, Takamaru was discovered at a coffee shop by an acting scout from Spain. Although initially refusing, Takamaru called the agent back and was flown out of Japan for filming immediately. He made his first appearance in a Spanish Coca-Cola commercial shortly thereafter. $\tiny {[8][9]}$
He was then scouted by several acting scouts and he was given supporting roles in the following multiple 2020 television series in Spain and Japan: The Last Samurai, Un pedazo de mi corazón, and The Great Thief. $\tiny {[10]}$
After his debut leading role in Exaltation (2020―2022), Takamaru had received offers for movie roles and then went on to become supporting roles in the film Starring in Temptations (2021). His debut in film lead acting was in Katsuki & the World’s Largest Boy (2023). $\tiny {[11]}$ He also starred in critically-acclaimed thriller film The Greatest Game Ever (2024). $\tiny {[12]}$
He is set to star in the upcoming comedy drama film A Million Miles, which will be released in 2025. $\tiny {[13]}$
